My Favorite Books as a Child | Part 2

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. My winter break has been pretty mellow so far, I haven’t been doing much besides working on the blog, my WIP, and sleeping in. The extra sleep is so nice. Today I have part two of my favorite books as a child! I did part 1 back in November, you can read it here. Eat Your Peas, Ivy Louise! by Leo Landry I don’t remember this book a whole lot, but I remember hearing the phrase “eat your peas, Ivy Louise” a lot in the house. Welcome to the world’s smallest circus—starring the Tender Tiny Peas—in this charming, one-of-a-kind fantasy that reveals…

    Let’s Talk Bookish: Banning Books

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I am officially on winter break now, which I am super glad about. My finals didn’t go as well as I expected, but I blame it on being sick last week and thus not getting the review time in class. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits where we discuss various topics and share our opinions. Today’s topic is Banning Books (suggested by Jillian @ Jillian the Bookish Butterfly). This is going to be a bit of a ranty post. When I say “you,” I’m taking about the general you, plural. I…

    Bookish Smash or Pass Tag

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I haven’t done a tag in a while, so I thought it would be a good time to do one. This is the Bookish Smash or Pass Tag! It was created by Becky @ Becky’s Book Blog and I was tagged by Jan @ Inkspun Tales. Thank you, Jan! Bookish Tropes SMASH – Only for tropes I like. And they have to be written well! Some my favorite tropes that will immediately get me interested in a book are found family, enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, and morally grey characters. Alternating POV SMASH – If they’re written well. I’ve read some books where the alternating…

Let’s Talk Bookish: Books as Gifts

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I have been a bit under the weather the past few days. I tested positive for COVID on Tuesday, but started feeling sick on Sunday, so I’ve been out of school all week. Which is really inconvenient because finals start next week. So I’ve been having to study from home, while trying to get better. COVID was really untimely. But I’m feeling better and hopefully I’ll test negative on Monday so I can get one review day physically in class before finals start on Tuesday. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook…

High School in Books/Films vs. High School in Real Life

If you’ve read a YA book or seen a film with teenagers, you’ll know that high school is portrayed very differently than it actually is. Today, I’m comparing high school in books and film to high school in real life. This is meant to be fun and humorous (and a little sarcastic), not critical. Disclaimer: I will be comparing the fictional schools to how schools are in the United States, specifically the west coast. Cliques For this one, it’s not entirely untrue, but it’s not the most realistic. There are cliques and you can see some of them together at lunch, but it’s not like in the movies. You know…

Let’s Talk Bookish: Can You Predict Someone’s Genre of Choice?

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I have one more week until finals, which is great, but also not. I’m still learning in a lot of my classes, so we’ll see how much time I’ll for review in class. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits where we discuss various topics and share our opinions. Today’s topic is Can You Predict Someone’s Genre of Choice? (suggested by Fives @ Down the Rabbit Hole). What is your favorite genre and why? Is there a reason why those particular genres speak to you or capture your interest? Fantasy is and always…

November Wrap-Up | the end of the year is approaching fast

I literally forgot that wrap-ups were a thing. I was thinking about what post to put out today and I realized on Saturday that I hadn’t started a wrap-up post for November. Luckily, I was able to get this done on time. One more month until 2023! BOOKS READ The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh|📖|★★★★This has those Spirited Away vibes, as it was pitched. The worldbuilding and relationships were my favorite part of the story. Mina and the trio were amazing, as well as Mina with Mask, Dai, and Miki. Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman|📖|★★★★I’m not sure what I was expecting with these stories, but it…

    Making a TBR Jar

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. Happy late Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates. I hope you had a great holiday. Today I have a bit different post: I’m showing you how I made my TBR jar. I’ve been wanting to make one of these for a while. I started making it a few months ago, but then got busy. So I took advantage of some free time and was able to finish it! I didn’t have an actual jar and I didn’t want to go buy one, so I ended up using an empty ice cream container. Talenti is one of my favorite ice cream brands, especially because…

Photos From the Past Few Months

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I am finally on Thanksgiving break, which I am very grateful for. It feels like my teachers crammed us with work before the break; I had three separate essays to work on in the past week. It was a lot. I haven’t shared any photography in a few months, but I’ve been doing a lot of it. I’m taking a photography class for an elective this year and it’s been fun! I’m learning how to use my camera, the aspects of photography, and proper technique. Anyways, today I’ll be sharing some photos I’ve taken in the past few months/year. (One of them…

    Author Spotlight: Tamora Pierce

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m starting a new kind of post today: an author spotlight! I got this idea from Jordyn @ Birdie’s Book Nook who started doing this a little while ago. I wanted to promote some underrepresented authors and I thought this was a great way to do it. Our first author is Tamora Pierce! I read a lot of her books when I was younger and always enjoyed the strong, female protagonists she created. In this post, I’ll be talking about the books by her that I’ve read and why I enjoyed them! Tamora Pierce Genres: YA fantasyBooks Read: 10, but she’s written…
