Let’s Talk Bookish: Balancing Blogging and Life

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. It’s been a busy few weeks, adjusting back to school and the workload for homework. I thought today’s LTB topic was a perfect one, especially at this time of the year when school is starting up again.

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @Β Eternity BooksΒ and hosted by Aria @Β Book Nook Bits where we discuss various topics and share our opinions. Today’s topic is Balancing Blogging and Life (suggested by Aria).

How do you manage balancing blogging and life?

To be honest, I’m not really sure. School comes first, so I always do my homework before working on a blog post. That means that I sometimes don’t get a post done on time. I’ll usually end up posting it the day after. Balancing blogging with other aspects of life isn’t as hard. Blogging isn’t my entire life–I still do other things–but it’s a pretty big part. I mainly work on blog posts when I’m at home with nothing I need to do or while I’m wait for something when I’m out of the house.

In what ways do school and work get in the way of blogging?

Homework is the thing that gets in the way the most. Being in class, obviously as well, but homework is the biggest thing. Depending on how much I have, it takes me a long time to finish. And also studying for tests and quizzes. I don’t mind doing it, I have to, it just takes up time. This usually means that I do most of my blogging on the weekends or when I don’t have a lot of homework. Luckily, my homework load as of right now isn’t bad. Knock on wood.

Are there any ways that blogging can help with everyday life?

For me, blogging is a creative outlet. It lets me express myself–my thoughts and opinions. I get to talk with people who have the same interests as me. I really only have one person who I can ramble about books to and I don’t see her very often. But with blogging, I talk about books all the time! It gives me a space to say what I want to say.

Are there certain times of year when blogging becomes harder or more overwhelming?

Definitely. I notice it most around finals or midterms, when I have to study more. October, December, March, and May are when tests take place at school, and I typically post less during those times. Vacation times are also when I might not post as much. But that’s really only if I’m going somewhere. For the most part, vacation gives me more time to blog, but if I’m traveling, I’ll typically skip posting.

Conclusion

I will admit, blogging takes a lot of my time. I do think that I balance it fairly well with the rest of my life. I do lots of other things while still having time to blog.

Thank you for this post, Lotus! I’m honestly worried sick about my courses starting (I go back on Monday!) because I’ll not only have to adjust to the added work, but I’ll also have to adjust to the new school/campus and the more difficult courses and just…ahhh. I want to scream just thinking about it! How often do you post in the school year? I’m worried about not having enough time to post enough or spending too much time on my blog and not getting my work done.

Good luck! Going to a new school is always hard. I try to post twice a week, usually Tuesdays and Fridays. It sometimes doesn’t end up happening, which is okay. I try not to stress about finishing a post on time. I remind myself that it can go up later and I don’t have to finish it by a certain date. I always prioritize school first, since it’s most important. Not saying that blogging isn’t important, but you get what I mean.

Ahhh Lotus, I loved this so much!! Balancing school and blogging does become a bit tough at times- especially since both of them are so time consuming! And yesss, rambling about books with the lovely community on here is the BEST!
I find it pretty hard to find a good balance between blogging and life hahaha, but I usually tend to work on my blog and write posts on the weekends when I’m more free!!
ADORED THIS! <3
