The Marvel Avengers Book Tag

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I am a huge Marvel fan. I watched all the movies during quarantine (minus two of them which I still need to see and one that I didn’t watch because people say it’s bad) and have since become obsessed with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. So, when I found this tag, of course I wanted to do it! I don’t remember who I found it from and I haven’t been able to find the creator, but credit to whomever it is. Let’s get into it!

Iron Man: a book that made you laugh out loud

All’s Faire in Middle School by Victoria Jamieson

This book definitely had a lot of funny moments. This is one of the few graphic novels that I own and I enjoy looking at it from time to time. Navigating middle school is hard enough but it’s even harder if you’ve never even been to public school before. Imogene is a great protagonist and the cast of characters is so fun to read about.

Captain America: a book that sends a positive message

Heartstopper Series by Alice Oseman

This entire series is so wholesome and sweet. The themes of friendship and kindness are displayed so well and I love Nick and Charlie’s relationship. Nick figuring out who he is and, later on in the series, learning how to be there for someone else. I also love the fact that the school is realistic and doesn’t focus on the stereotypical aspect of drugs and alcohol. Long story short, everything about Heartstopper is so real and the epitome of coming of age. I am sad that I have to wait an entire year for the fifth volume to come out.

Thor: a book with a character’s strength you admire

Sarai from the Strange the Dreamer Duology by Laini Taylor

Sarai is one of those characters that has a quiet kind of strength. To take Thor as an example, he has a very loud and physical sense of strength. Sarai, on the other hand, has strength through her actions and viewpoints. In the most spoiler-free way possible, Sarai is empathetic and compassionate–she doesn’t want to resort to violence. Even after all she’s been through, she firmly stands by her beliefs and doesn’t let anyone try to change them.

Black Widow: a book with a butt-kicking female protagonist

Rin from The Poppy War Trilogy by R.F. Kuang

If Rin isn’t the most butt-kicking female protagonist, then I don’t know who is. Rin is undoubtedly one of the most powerful characters I have encountered while reading. She’s hotheaded and impulsive, determined and very stubborn. She’s also extremely morally grey, making her a really interesting character who does some questionable things in the books. On top of all of that, she’s got immense fire powers.

Hulk: a book that made you angry

A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers #2) by Brigid Kemmerer

Angry is a bit too strong to describe what I felt, but A Heart So Fierce and Broken did make me very annoyed. I loved the first book in the series, and although Heart didn’t suffer from middle book syndrome, the characters were not very enjoyable. Rhen specifically because after so much grow in ACSDAL, it felt like he was back to his former self in the second book. I don’t understand the choices he made or the decisions he went through with. It seemed as if he lost all that growth.

Hawkeye: an underrated book that you think more people should pay attention to

The Center of the Universe by Ria Voros

I read this book quite a long time ago and while I don’t remember a whole lot about it, I really enjoyed it. I don’t know too many people who have read this book, if any. It has fewer than 500 ratings on Goodreads, which is a bit surprising, considering it came out five years ago. I’d like to reread it some time, but I have yet to find a place I can get it at, besides Amazon.

*Bonus* Loki: a book with a twist or a surprise that you didn’t see coming

We Were Liars (We Were Liars #1) by E. Lockhart

For those of you who have read this book, you will know exactly what I’m talking about when I say that the big twist in the story was very, very confusing. I read We Were Liars maybe two years ago and I still don’t understand how the plot twist works. Like, how is anything in the story possible? Luckily, the prequel for it came out, Family of Liars, so maybe that’ll clear up some of my confusion once I read it.

This tag was a lot of fun to do on a whim! I admittedly spent way too long picking out GIFs for all the characters, but I enjoyed looking through them. Feel free to do this tag if you’d like!
