My Favorite Quotes From Books | aka things characters said that pull at my heartstrings

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. Sorry for not posting yesterday, none of my posts were close to being done because school got in the way of everything. But then I got a great idea for a different post and immediately started working on it. I was talking to a family friend the other day and she was looking for quotes on happiness. I will admit, the majority of quotes I note down aren’t exactly happy. They’re either very sad or very deep and emotional, often centering around a theme of the book.

That conversation gave me the idea for this post! I will be listing some of my favorite quotes from books I’ve read and demanding encouraging you to read the stories. I only picked one quote per book I wanted to share, which made this process even harder and a complete challenge to myself. The main reason as to why I picked these specific quotes are because of the meaning behind it or the fact that they are beautifully written (or both.)

This is so true. Luck of the Titanic is about the sinking of the RMS Titanic and I think this quote fits it so well. Even if you can’t be strong and just need to a moment to let yourself go, you can still find strength. And next time, you’ll be stronger than before.

Ahh, everything about this book made me love it even more. I can’t say much about this quote because of spoilers, but this quote is so beautifully written. “Finding each other in the darkness” deepens the found family even more and knowing when this quote comes in makes it even more meaningful.

I have no words for this quote. If you’ve read this book, then you’ll know how much this quote basically defines The Weight of the Stars and all that happens in it. When I came to this part of the story, my heart literally broke for the characters.

Picture Us in the Light was a beautiful coming-of-age novel, where the protagonist, Danny, found out a lot about himself and his family. I feel like this quote goes to show how we change in life. As we grow, we’re going to find out who we are as a person and that may not always be the same. Danny’s an artist and I think this quote fits his experiences in the story perfectly.

This quote speaks volumes. Lila’s father died because of suicide, and throughout the book, she has to grapple with that and try to understand why her father did it. Lila grows a lot, starting off angry and confused about her father’s death, and ending up as someone who has learned to accept his choices.

Are people meant to do that? If you lose somebody close to you, can they ever be replaced? In Clues to the Universe, Ro’s father dies unexpectedly and the only thing she has left of him is the unfinished rocket they had been working on. As the story progresses, Ro learns how to deal with her father’s death, while also helping her newly-made friend Benji reunite with his dad. Through the exploration of grief, we come to this quote by Ro.

This book was really popular among my friend group when we were in eighth grade. I remember borrowing it from on my friends and being so excited to finally read the book. This quote fits the book so well. I’m not sure which one of them said it, but I’m fairly sure it was Stella. (If I’m wrong, please correct me.) Both Stella and Will have cystic fibrosis and they can’t be within six feet of each other.

I read Thirteen Doorways, Wolves Behind Them All a few years ago, and while I don’t remember a whole lot about it, I really enjoyed it when I was finished. I agree that joy is sometimes our only weapon. At times, even when everything seems hopeless and done with, a bit of happiness can change that.

Yes. That’s all I have to say about this quote. But in all honesty, it’s true. War doesn’t determine who’s right–it doesn’t kill of the bad people and keep the good people. War leaves the people who are stronger and willing to sacrifice everything to come out alive.

Laini Taylor’s writing is beautiful and lyrical and I love it so much. This quote encompasses the whole image of this book. Weep is real, but Lazlo has such the imagination to dream up his own Unseen City. I love how simple this quote is, yet how imaginative it is at the same time.

That’s all the quotes I’ll be sharing today! I have a lot more and I’m sure I’ll find some more in the books I’m currently reading, so let me know if you would like a part 2 to this.

Have you read any of these books? What were some of your favorite quotes from them? What other book quotes do you love?
