Christmas Songs Book Tag
Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I apologize for disappearing for two weeks. Final exams were last week and they definitely took their toll this year. Luckily, my last day was Thursday and I’m on winter break now, so I’ll have more time for blogging! I know Monday isn’t normally a day I post, but I’ve been gone, so I figured that I would go ahead and post this.
I’m not doing Blogmas this year, but I still wanted to do a seasonal post for the holidays. So today I am doing the Christmas Songs Book Tag! And also ignoring all the other tags I have to do. I saw Georgia @ Lost in Neverland do this and it looked like a lot of fun. It was originally created by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You”: Favorite bookish couple.
Percy and Annabeth from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
Can I just be basic and have a generic answer? I made this choice way harder than it needed to be, so I ended up just going with the easiest option I had. I mean, come on, anyone who has read Percy Jackson can agree that Percy and Annabeth are a great couple.
“I’ll Be Home for Christmas“: Name a book where a character is away from home (school, vacation, etc.).
When All the Girls Are Sleeping by Emily Arsenault
I’m currently reading this and I’m really enjoying it. In the novel, Haley is away at prep school, at Windham-Farnswood Academy. This the first mystery novel I’ve read in quite some time; I say mystery is one of my favorite genres, but I don’t read them that often. This book also dips a bit into horror, which I’ve never read before, but there’s a first for everything.
“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas“: Name your favorite βlittleβ book (childrenβs book, short story, novella, etc.).
The Year of the Book by Andrea Cheng
I loved this series when I was in elementary school. These were some of the books that really brought me into reading. My mom got them for me because of the Chinese adoptee representation and some parts of the book discuss the challenges the MC, Anna, faces with it. Also, Anna is a bookworm like myself, which is even better.
“Santa Claus is Coming to Town“: What book(s) do you hope Santa brings you this year?
I actually know that I’m getting two of these because I picked them out. The others I’m hoping maybe I’ll get as well.
- The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang – This has been on my TBR for an extremely long time and everyone who’s mentioned it has positive things to say about it. I can’t wait to see what all the hype is about.
- We Are Not Free by Traci Chee – This historical fiction novel sounds absolutely heartbreaking, but so good as well. I have yet to read a book about the Japanese Americans during WW2 and this seems like the perfect book to do so.
- Unwritten by Alicia J. Novo – The story revolves around books, how could I not want to read it? Also, that cover is gorgeous.
- The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu – As a musical person myself, I was drawn to this book from the music aspect of it. This will be my first book by Marie Lu, though I would like to read some of her other books as well.
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer“: Which book turned your nose red (made you cry)?
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
I will admit, I do not cry when I read books; it’s who I am. I just feel all the emotions inside. However, I’ll Give You the Sun definitely did something to me. I didn’t cry, but I got close. This book was full of emotions and mending broken relationships, it was beautiful.
“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year“: Your favorite book/kind of book to read during the holidays.
One Way or Another by Kara McDowell
I recently finished reading this and I got a bunch of cozy, winter vibes from it. Christmas in New York and a snowy cabin in the woods; what else do you need for it to scream holiday? This had great anxiety representation in it as well. Paige, the protagonist, struggles with her anxiety and part of the story is her learning how to live with it.
“We Three Kings“: Your favorite trilogy.
Cursebreakers Series by Brigid Kemmerer
This isn’t my favorite trilogy, but it’s the one I could remember that I’ve read. When I was choosing what to answer for this prompt, I would think of a book and I’d be like, “Oh, that series! Wait, it has four books.” Or I’d be like, “I could use that series! Wait, it’s only a duology.” In short, it took me a while to find an answer.
“Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow“: A character you would love to be snowed in with.
Fenestra from the Nevermoor Series by Jessica Townsend
Fenestra is a cat, a Magnificat, and the most sarcastic cat character I know. She’s very judgemental, but that’s part of what makes her a hilarious character. If she doesn’t like you, you’re in trouble. However, if she does like you, then she’ll be loyal to you. Despite all of her not so pleasant qualities, she is a giant cat and she loves to curl up and sleep, shutting out the terrible world and boring people around her. She’s like a huge ball of warmth and fluff. If it’s snowing and I’m stuck with a narcissistic cat, I can at least be warm.
“Last Christmas“: A book that seriously let you down.
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
This book didn’t seriously let me down, but it did fall below my expectations. It wasn’t a bad book, but the choices that the MC make seem unrealistic. Also, I didn’t particularly like that big twist at the end.
“White Christmas”: An upcoming release youβre dreaming about.
Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
First of all, look at that cover. The attention to detail is amazing, I love it.
I learned about the legend of Chang’e at a young age and was fascinated with it. When I heard that this was a retelling of it, I was immediately intrigued.
That’s it for this tag! I’m not going to tag anyone but feel free to do it if you’d like.
How are your holidays going? What books do you enjoy reading during the holidays?
