June Wrap-Up | An Uneventful but Productive(ish) Start to Summer Break
This post is later than usual, I know. I kind of forgot that June was ending and I also procrastinated, so this wrap up comes almost a week late.
Also, did I say another month could pass by? We’re already half way through 2021. Craziness. June was pretty uneventful, but it was still pretty good.
BOOKS READ
I managed to read 5(ish) books this months! It wasn’t great and I only made it through half my TBR for the month (which, evidently, I set way to high), but I think I did okay. I also really enjoyed all the books I read, which was great!
Picture Us in the Light by Kelly Loy Gilbert|β

This book was so beautifully written and encompassed so much. Picture Us in the Light focused a lot of relationships, especially between Danny and his parents and it was so sad, but also a little bittersweet.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (Aristotle and Dante #1) by Benjamin Alire SΓ‘enz|β

I really enjoyed this book. The characters relationships and the dialogue exchanged between them as funny and felt very real. I canβt wait to read the sequel that comes out in October!
The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar|β

The sister bond in this book was so good! And I loved the romance between Nishat and FlΓ‘via. The rivals-to-lovers, as well as topics handled, were done really well.
Iβll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson|β

Iβm not usually a person who cries over books, but I’ll admit that my eyes were not completely dry at some parts in this book. I like how the story was separated into two halves with Noah and Jude narrating each half. This book was really sad but there was hope in it too.
You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson|β

I technically didn’t read this entirely in June, but I read over half of it last month, so I’m going to count it. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the friendships and relationships between the characters and the storyline overall kept me interested all the time.
CURRENTLY READING
TBR FOR JULY
Iβve heard a lot of good things about Perfect on Paper and it was one of the books on my Pride Month TBR, so I hope get to it this month. Additionally, I loved The Hate U Give and when I heard that there was a sequel, Concrete Rose, I had to read it. I love that weβll get to hear the story of Starrβs father and half brother, so Iβm really excited to read this one. And lastly, These Violent Delights has been talked about so much around the blogosphere lately, so I have really high expectations for this one.
I wrote 11 posts this month which is pretty good. I think that’s going to be my averagish number from now on. Here are my posts for the month:
- Pride Month TBR
- Let’s Talk Bookish: Why Do People Lie About Reading Books?
- Review: A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer
- The 3 Bookish Things Tag

- Preparing for July Camp NaNoWriMo
- Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the 2nd Half of 2021
I’m participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this month and so far, it’s going pretty well. I’m having to work writing time into my schedule, so I’m not getting as much done as I’d like to, but it’s still something.
I’m handwriting this time which isn’t something I normally do, but it’s said to help your creativity flow better and it also gets me away from screens for a little while, so I’m going to try to handwrite the whole thing. Knowing how many words Iβve written is a bit of a challenge, but Iβve been estimating it, so I hope my guess isnβt too far off.
I got my second COVID vaccine and am now fully vaccinated, which is really nice. I also went into a bookstore for the first time in over a year, and I spent about twenty minutes trying to decide which two books to buy. I ended up buying Concrete Rose and These Violent Delights, which like I said above, I hope to be able to read this month.
I started watching Loki and I’m kind of confused. Iβve watched three episodes and I’m trying to make sense of the plot, but I’m not getting anywhere.
The Mysterious Benedict Society TV show released on Disney+, and I’m loving it so far. It’s done really well, even with COVID restrictions. And besides the fact that they had to age Constance up, they’re staying pretty true to the storyline.
