May Wrap-Up and June Goals
Time flies way too fast. Every time I do a monthly wrap-up, it feels like it should not be this far into the year. But yet, it is. I had a pretty good month, things weren’t too bad. I hope yours was good as well.
This month, I sadly only read two books. I started Strange the Dreamer near the beginning of the month, but it took a little while to get into because of the different writing style, and it’s very long, so that’s the major book I’ve been reading this month. Here are the two I completed:
The Half-Orphan’s Handbook by Joan F. Smith ~ ★★★★☆ ~ My Review
This was an amazing coming-of-age novel that I really enjoyed reading. Lila was a great main character to narrate the story and I love how realistic everything was. Actually, I take that back. The romance wasn’t that realistic, but the grief aspects were handled really well.
A Vow So Bold and Deadly (Cursebreakers #3) by Brigid Kemmerer ~ ★★★★☆
I read this book so fast, and it was so good! I was disappointed by AHSFAB, but this made up for a lot of it. All four of the main characters grew a lot and the relationships were very complicated. I feel like a few of the subplots could’ve been ended better, but I still really enjoyed this one. I’ll be posting a review at some point, so be on the lookout for that.
I posted eleven times this month, including this post. I didn’t post as much this month, but I’ve been busy with end of the year stuff, getting ready for finals and stuff. I can’t believe I’ve almost finished my freshman year of high school online. It’s crazy.

I got some really good writing done this month, which I’m happy about. I finished the draft of my prologue for my current WIP and I like how it turned out. It still needs to be edited and fixed up a bit, but overall, I like it. It is slightly long though, for a prologue, but I’m not sure how to shorten it at all. Anyways, here’s a snippet of it that I thought to share:
- I got my first COVID vaccine! It wasn’t too bad, though my arm was sore for a few days afterwards. I get my next one on Friday this week. Hopefully I won’t get too bad of a reaction to this one as well.
- School is almost over! I have finals this week and then I’ll have finished my first year of high school. Online. Not very ideal, but we made the best of it.
- I got an award at my school, which I’m really surprised about. My school has different academies, and I’m in the Public Service Academy. I got freshman of the year for that academy! Which is surprising, since we literally did nothing for public service this year because of COVID.
My goals for May:
- Read 5 books ❌ Sadly, I did not read as many books as I would like, but Strange the Dreamer is really long, so it’s been taking me a while to get through it. I hope to finish it soon.
- Write at least 10 blog posts ✓ Just enough, I wrote 11. It’s not as much as I normally post, but I’m hoping that once school lets out, I’ll have less stuff in my schedule.
- Finish the first draft of my prologue ✓ Yes, I did! I’m really happy about that, and I’m hoping to work on it some more in June, with editing and revising.
My goals for June:
- Read 4 books
- Write at least 10 blog posts
- Prep for Camp NaNoWriMo
- Keep up with the geometry class I’m taking over the summer
So I did blog hop a bit this month, but I mostly forgot to note which blog posts I wanted to put in this wrap-up, so this list is going to be shorter than usual. Nevertheless, here are some posts I enjoyed this month:
- Let’s Talk About Down Syndrome and Autistic Representation in YA // a discussion by Rania @ Rania’s Rambling Reads
- Blog Tour: The Other Side of Perfect by Mariko Turk Review + Moodboard by Ritz @ Living, Loving and Reading
- Déjà vu by Aanya @ Soaring Firebolt

Ahh, thank you so much! That part of the prologue is very important to the rest of the story, which I’ll be talking about in a post I’ll be doing later, so watch out for that. Yes, your post was really good!
