Never Have I Ever…read a later book in a series before the first
Yes, I have. I got Rising Storm by Erin Hunter a few years ago from someone, and after kind of reading it, I discovered that it was the fourth book in Erin Hunter’s Warrior Series. I got quite a few spoilers in that book, but I don’t think I truly read it thoroughly. I probably just skimmed it.
Never Have I Ever…burned a book
Why would anyone think to do this? I get that some books can be deemed burn-worthy, but don’t do it. Use the book for something useful, don’t use it as kindling to start a fire.
Never Have I Ever…gone into a shop to buy one book and came out with many more
I don’t recall any specific times, but I’m sure I’ve done it before. I usually go to a shop to browse and or because I just want to find some books to read.
Never Have I Ever…loved a book when I was younger and hated it when I got older
I don’t think so.
Never Have I Ever…read a book I knew I’d hate
I think that’s a no on this one as well.
Never Have I Ever…wrote a fan fiction of my favorite book
Kind of? I’ve written a Harry Potter fan fiction kind of thing, but I added in a few made up characters. Also, it’s weird to write about characters someone else has made. You don’t fully know them so if you make them say something that’s completely out of character, it just doesn’t work very well, you know what I mean?
Never Have I Ever…dressed up as my favorite literary character
Yes, I have! Twice, actually. One year for Halloween, my friends and I did Percy Jackson characters and we did the Hunters of Artemis. I was Thalia. I had a jean jacket and I made her signature “Death to Barbie” t-shirt. My dad helped me make a bow out of a bamboo shoot from our backyard and we used a Pringles can for a quiver and make arrows out of dowels.
And the next year, my friends and I did Harry Potter characters. I was Tonks, so I had a very… unusual outfit. But I mean, Tonks doesn’t exactly dress like everyone else. I got this fake leather jacket at Goodwill and we hair sprayed my hair pink. It was a lot of fun.
Never Have I Ever…hated a book by an author I love
I wouldn’t say I hated it, but Anne of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery wasn’t my favorite. It didn’t have much of a plot, there were so many things happening, and the summary of the book wasn’t really all that huge.
Never Have I Ever…skim read a book
I haven’t skim read an entire book, but I’ll definetely skim read parts of a book, especially if there’s a lot of info-dumping.
Never Have I Ever…pretended to read a book I haven’t
Not in my memory.
Never Have I Ever…read a book without the dust cover
Oh, plenty of times. The dust cover is nice, but it gets really annoying when I’m reading. It will slide up too far or down too far and it just gets in the way. But honestly, I usually keep the dust cover on. I’ll take it off a few times though.
Never Have I Ever…had a book boyfriend/girlfriend
Well, there are some people I do like but. . . no.
Never Have I Ever…picked up a book based on the cover alone
No. I usually read the synopsis first. I might pick up a book because I think the cover is pretty, but I won’t read it just because I thought the cover looked nice.
Never Have I Ever…read the end of a book before the beginning
Guilty. I don’t know why I do this sometimes. It’s probably not the best idea because I once got a huge spoiler by reading the last page of a book before the rest of it.
Never Have I Ever…read a history or anthropology book for fun
I don’t think so?
Never Have I Ever…participated in a readathon
I’d like to, but it hasn’t been my top priority right now. I’ll figure out when to do one later.
Never Have I Ever…bought multiple books in a series before starting it
Nope. I don’t really know what the point of it is. If you start the book and then find out that you don’t like the series, what are you going to do with the rest of the books?
Never Have I Ever…written in a book
The only thing I’ve written in a book is my name on the inside cover but nothing else. I don’t like writing in books.
Never Have I Ever…filled up an entire bookshelf and had to have stacks of books balanced precariously throughout various rooms
Wow, that’s very specific. I don’t have enough books to do that, but my family does have multiple bookshelves around our house. I believe we have seven bookshelves in our house.
New Prompt: Never Have I Ever…read a book with no knowledge of what it was about
Yeah, I have. I started listening to The Secret of Nightingale Wood by Lucy Strange on audiobook with pretty much no knowledge on what the story was about. It made the first part a little confusing, but it worked out well and I enjoyed the book.

Thanks for doing the tag! I loved reading your answers! Id love to participate in a readathon too but itβs not one of my top priorities right now, and while I did like Anne of Ingleside it didnβt live up to the rest of the series. Nice post!
Lotus @ Pages of Starlight
Happy to do it! Yes, I agree. Thank you!

I must say I used to pick out books as a child just based on the cover art. As a young teen, I once read a book so scary that I couldn’t sleep for weeks. To this day I don’t know why I read it!
Lotus @ Pages of Starlight
And thus, a reason to not judge a book by its cover. (I still do though.)

Lotus @ Pages of Starlight
Yeah! And I hate to ruin it as well, being thrown in backpacks and carried around. Thank you!
