My Trip to Death Valley
Hey, everyone! I hope you’re doing well. Today I have another photography post. I recently went camping in Death Valley and I got some really cool pictures that I thought I’d share with you. Let me tell you, camping in Death Valley is so hot! It got to 100 degrees Fahrenheit at one point. But I still had a good time.
This first series of photos is the view we had from our campsite. Some of these were taken at sunrise, most of them actually. During the day, we tried to hike when it was least hot, but it was hard; it started getting really hot at about 8 o’clock in the morning. I especially love the last two, where the sunrise made the rocks look pink.
We took a car ride to some lookout points the first full day we were there. It was really cool; there were a lot of fascinating rock formations (and that’s coming from a person who’s not that much into rocks).
The next day, we went to Falls Canyon. It was very, very hot. That was the day that got to 100 degrees, and let’s just say that it wasn’t exactly pleasant. But, we saw some very cool lizards!
My mom and I took a quick morning hike before breakfast in Mosaic Canyon the next day. We only did the first half mile or so, which was the stuff worth seeing.
Okay, next thing. We took a hike up in higher elevation so it would be cooler, and it was so much nicer. I don’t remember what it was called, but the view was great. Well, except for the fact that there were a bunch of trees blocking our view. There were these really cool kilns, which are in the first photo. They’re huge and were built sometime in the 1800s.
Also, I took the photo of the tree just for fun. It looks as if there’s only half of it because it’s growing next to the trail. I thought it looked kind of funny. We also met this butterfly on the way back down the mountain. It kept flying off and then coming back! It stayed with us for about half an hour or so.
So, that was my trip! I had a lot of fun (even with the outrageously hot weather).
What do you think of these pictures? Which one is your favorite?

Lotus, I found ALL of the photos to be breathtaking. The beauty is so real and yet magical at the same time.
I found the lizard standing on the rock to be my favorite photo. He looks like he has a story to tell and is just waiting to be “discovered.” The butterfly was striking, too. However, I thought that maybe he/she was looking for a mate. I hope they find one if that is true.

Thank you so much!
The lizard is really cool. His tail always curled when he ran. The butterfly was amazing. Maybe, I don’t really know.

Thanks for the pix — 100 degrees is way outside of my comfort zone, so this way, I get to see the views without the heat! I like the rocks, but I’m more into the coastal variety with whitewater around them.
Do you use the scenes you’ve seen on your travels in your own fiction writing?

You’re welcome! Yeah, I agree. 100 degrees is way too hot for comfort.
Not usually. Most of what I write is fantasy, so trips I go on here don’t exactly translate over.
