The Bookworm’s Tag

Hello, everyone! I’m hope you’re all doing well. I was tagged by Maith M. @ Jovial Pages for the Bookworm’s Tag, so thank you Maith!

The Rules:

  • Thank and link to the blogger who nominated you.
  • Include the tag graphic in your post.
  • Answer the ten questions the blogger asked.
  • Nominate between five and ten bloggers.
  • Ask your nominees ten book-related questions!
  • Don’t feel bound to these rules.
  • (Most importantly) Have fun!

Now, let’s get started!

Which book made you a bibliophile?

Ooh, that’s a hard question. There are so many books that got me into reading, I don’t know if I can just choose one. But, for right now, I’ll go with the Anna Wang Series by Andrea Chang. I really enjoyed these books when I was younger, especially the fact that Anna is Chinese-American and a lot like me, in the bookworm type way.

What is the most cliché thing any author can include in books?

Hmm, another hard one. There are a lot of cliché things that are added into books that I get tired of. One of them is: “She let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding.” (Or the like.)

I mean, seriously? I think you’d know if you were holding your breath. This phrase is said a lot, especially in scenes where it’s tense or dangerous, and it’s just overused, in my opinion.

Who is the biggest bookworm you know?

Um, probably me, honestly. I literally don’t go anywhere without a book. I always have one with me and I’m definetely the kind of person who reads in the car. Not so much right now, obviously, because there’s nowhere to go, but regardless, I still read a lot.

Which book would you carry on a road trip or long airplane ride?

Honestly, I’d probably just take the book that I’m currently reading (or two or three), depending on how long the trip is going to be. That’s what I usually do. I always want to have an extra book in case I finish the other one.

Do you prefer series or stand-alone books? Why?

I think it depends on the book and also the genre. For fantasy books, definetely series because then you get to explore more of the fictional world and it feels more detailed and laid out. For contemporary, romance, and others like it, I prefer stand-alones because, a lot of the time, the whole story can be put into one book. It doesn’t need to be dragged out across into a series.

If you could write a book, which genre would it be in?

I actually am writing a book and it is fantasy! My mind just loves creating fictional worlds and I love reading fantasy as well, it’s my favorite genre. Of course, with writing fantasy comes worldbuilding and everything; it takes a lot of work to come up with technology and people and what the world is like. I haven’t finished my worldbuilding yet. Yikes!

Which fictitious character felt so real, that they seemed to be like your sibling or close friend?

Let’s see. . . I’m going to go with Jo March from Little Women. She and I are similar in ways, I think. Though we do have differences, I’m not as outgoing as her or as tomboyish, we both like to read and write, using our imaginations to tell stories. I feel like we could be friends.

The best book to movie adaption, according to you…

I think probably Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It’s such a good book and the movie was fantastic. Jacob Tremblay, who played Auggie–his makeup was done really well and the movie was just great overall. It was able to encompass everything that happened in the book without having it rushed or dragged out.

Are you a paperback or e-book person?

Paperback, definitely. There’s something about being able to hold a physical book that I love. Turning pages and feeling it beneath my fingers makes it seem more real. E-books do have their perks though. It’s a lot easier to bring a bunch of books on a trip with an e-book then it is to have to lug a bunch of physical copies.

Your favorite book bloggers?

Well, there’s a lot of book bloggers that I really like. For the sake of time, I’ll only list a few: (And I’m going to take way too long picking these few out.)

  • Drizzle & Hurricane Books – Marie and Nyx create amazing posts including book reviews, book lists, book discussions, and so much more. I love reading their posts because they’re really engaging and enjoyable to read.
  • Forever and Everly – May’s posts are so fun to read and I get a lot of good diverse book recommendations from reading her posts.
  • Whispering Pages – I only discovered Whispering Pages a little while ago, but I really enjoy reading Katie’s posts. They’re fun and engaging and I just have a good time with them.
