January Wrap-Up and February Goals

Hey, everyone! Was it just me or did January go by really fast? It feels like New Years happened only a few days ago. Anyways, here is my wrap-up for January and some goals for February.

Pax by Sara Pennypacker ★★★★☆ – I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun read, though there were a couple of sad parts in it. (My review.)

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern ★★★★★ (4.5) – This book was amazing! I loved the world that Morgenstern made, creating one inside our own. (My review.)

Elske by Cynthia Voigt ★★★★☆ (3.5) – I enjoyed this story as well. There were a few things I didn’t particularly like about it, but it has strong female characters, which I like.

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Riddle of Ages by Trenton Lee Stewart ★★★★☆ – This book was a great action and adventure filled novel. I enjoyed reading about the Society’s last journey together. At least for now. The characters are so funny and all together, the book was excellent.

I’d like to aim to read four books in February as well. I’m currently reading Winterkeep by Kristin Cashore and it’s really good so far.

I’ve been meaning to read The Princess Bride as well. I’ve watched the movie like two hundred times, it’s such a good movie, and I wanted to read the book as well.

Everything, Everything sounded really interesting, and so, to make my TBR even longer, I got the book.

Okay, so starting last summer, I made it a goal to go through my bookshelf and read all the books I hadn’t read yet. I have a tendency to get a book as a gift and then not read it. I’m trying to break that habit. I’m so close to finishing that, and the next one is Wizard’s Hall by Jane Yolen. It’s really short, so I expect that I’ll get through it pretty quickly.

For February, I’m going to try to post roughly the same amount as I did this month. February is three days shorter than January, but I don’t think that will be do much of a problem.

That’s 12 posts, so I think that’s a pretty good amount. Who knows, I might do more.

I didn’t do a whole lot of writing this month. In November, I finished my second draft of a NaNoWriMo project I’ve been working on for about a year now. It still needs a lot of work, but I’ve been slowly figuring out characterization, world-building, and trying to revise it. I haven’t gotten very far. Overall, though, I feel like I’m doing pretty good. I haven’t had a lot of time to work out it since school has been kind of crazy, but I try to find time to work on it at least a little bit.

So, it’s the new year. And. . . honestly, it doesn’t really feel like it. Zoom school is okay, I guess. Starting freshman year of high school online was not what I had planned, but it’s the safest thing to do with COVID, so I’ll take it. It’s actually going pretty well, which I’m surprised about. They’ve gotten it sorted out and it’s going smoothly. Or at least as smoothly as it can go with bad internet and wifi connections along with everyone else who’s trying to figure out how to work everything.

So that’s how my January went. Overall, it was pretty good. I feel like this has been a good start to my blog. I only started this in the last week of December, and I feel good about it.

How was your January? Did you read any good books?
